Thailand Rejects Cambodia’s Request to Include Malaysia, US, and China as Observers at Upcoming GBC Meeting

Phnom Penh, August 2, 2025 —Thailand has rejected Cambodia’s request to include representatives from Malaysia, the United States, and China as observers at the upcoming General Border Committee (GBC) meeting, scheduled to take place in Malaysia from August 4 to 7.

The Thai Minister of Defense stated that observers were unnecessary, as the meeting is a bilateral engagement, unlike a ceasefire meeting which requires a facilitator.
